Hanoi’s fireworks show celebrating country’s 35th reunification anniversary

A special show with fireworks, lights, fashion shows, and music performed by Vietnamese and Singaporean artists on April 30 at Hanoi’s Thang Loi Hotel.

The “Firework Festival” show will start at 8pm and will be aired live on Hanoi Television (HTV). The opening item will be a drum show by Vietnamese and Singaporean artists, entitled “Thang Long Spirit”.

Contractors are now being selected for HCM City’s first metro line, a 19.7 kilometer line from the Ben Thanh Market east to Suoi Tien. Construction will start in early 2011, after years of planning.

Hanoi’s deputies worry about Hanoi’s future

Hanoi People’s Council on April 20 considered the city’s construction plans to 2030 and vision to 2050.

A big mock-up describing Hanoi in the future was placed outside the hall, accompanied by a dozen maps on the city’s future traffic, land use and social infrastructure.

Ngo Trung Hai, the director of the Institute for Urban and Rural Architecture and Planning, briefly introduced the draft construction plan for Hanoi to 2020. Many deputies expressed their concern about the plan’s incomplete points.
